With the benign blessings of His Holiness Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami of Sringeri Sharada Math, Sringeri, the Veda Sasthra Vidhya Trust was founded on 23-02-1996 in Coimbatore, South India by Sri S.N. Varadarajan and Sri C.G.Venkatramanan, devout Vedic personalities, for the purpose of carrying out scientific study and analysis of Veda Sasthras as expounded by Rishis. As part of these efforts, then in the year 1996, Sri S.N. Varadarajan as the Managing Trustee of the Trust established Singanallur Narasimha Iyer Vedapatasala at Elapully Village, Palakkad, Kerala, out of his own personal funds mainly and few contributions from well-wishers. The purpose was to propagate the teachings of Vedas to all those who wished to learn it in the traditional gurukula concept. The entire cost of education including boarding and lodging was borne by the Trust.
In the year 2020, the Trust Deed was amended to bring the administration of the Vedapatasala totally under the control of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri. This is to ensure that the Patasala functions eternally irrespective of the life of the Trustees. Accordingly, resolutions were passed and His Holiness Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami, the ruling Pontiff of Sri Sringeri Sankara Math was consecrated as the Patron. Also the ruling Pontiff of Sri Sankara Math at Sringeri as the Patron of the Trust was vested with the soul authority to appoint or remove the Trustees in the Trust. Under His Holiness’s guidance, the Patasala was shifted to Sri Sharadambal Temple Complex at Sharada Nagar, Thrissur Bye Pass Road, Karingarapully, Palakkad-678 551, where a separate building was built by Sri Sharada Math to accommodate the Patasala.
The Patron His Holiness Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami also reappointed Sri S.N. Varadarajan as the Chairman of the Trust and freshly appointed Sri. B. Vijay Anand, Coimbatore as the Managing Trustee and Sri. Karimpuzha Raman, Palakkad as an additional Trustee. Now the Patasala is functioning very well under the guidance of His Holiness of Sri Sringeri Math at this new premises in a serene environment. The Trust has also provided for the welfare of the students, purified water system, 24 hours electricity with partial solar power and also generator back up. The entire premises is under the surveillance of CCTV camera system.
The Patasala has around 35 students at present in various stages of Vedic education. The Patasala has enough class rooms to accommodate all the students and also a Prayer hall, a Library and an Administrative office with computer facility and a fully furnished kitchen. It functions totally as a residential school for the Vidhyarthees, providing, tuition and boarding free of cost.
Many of the scholars who have passed out from this S N Vedapatasala of our Trust are serving as learned Vedic Pandits in many places around the country.
The Trust is currently financed by its founding members, and is looking for benefactors who would like to contribute towards the teaching and propagation of the Vedas.
